2005/10/26〜11/2  KOMODO KOZO OKUBO

I went to Komodo again. This year, I have been on a role, landing numerous fish in Komodo prior to my domestic season in my main-field Tokara, where I had landed many fish as well.
However, with the recent weather phenomenon, the typhoons this year have been significantly larger, resulting in the cancellation of all the GT special tours in autumn.
As a result, I had not been able to go GT fishing or even touching a GT for 4 months,
The 4 month gap in GT fishing for me, was a first in 10 years. My motivations for this trip to Komodo was sky high.

In addition, with the filming of my video series “LEGEND” during the trip, I was even more motivated!!

Once we started fishing, we were surprised to see the current almost immobile.
But when checking out carefully……

The first fish was caught on the I-cup Rocket (Bonito).
Feeling the weight of the GT in my arms for the 1st time in 4 months was something special.

Next, the I-cup Rocket of Mr. Ishida who joined us from Tokyo was furiously attacked.

The GT Mr. Ishida landed was approx. 30kg and Monster I landed was 161cm!!
Although it was a double hook up, thanks to Mr. Ishida’s technique,
his fish was landed with in minutes with out any help of the boat,
I was able to land this 160cm over fish.

As the water depth was less than 5m (3.7m when landed),
it was a tough fight, but with luck on my side, I was able to land this 161cm GT.
There is nothing else more rewarding!!
In addition, the events all unfolded in front of the filming of the new video.
I can just imagine the amazing footage!!

This was the 3rd 160cm over fish caught in Komodo in 2005!
The thick, muscle body, and its mean look, there was nothing else I could as for.
As it weighed too much, the 3 of us released the fish.
